SWEDISH RELAXATION Massage

When most people think of massage they think of drifting away to a quiet, stress free place while receiving a gentle massage. At Essential Massage we offer the perfect environment for this escape from the stress filled world we live in.

All of our therapists are trained in the classic Swedish or Western style of massage. This style of massage incorporates several basic strokes blended together to form a rhythmic dance which will transport you to another place and time.

The basic strokes are effleurage which are long, smooth, gliding strokes, petrissage which is a gentle lifting and kneading of the muscle tissue, tapotement which is a series of tapping strokes, vibration which is a rocking or shaking of certain areas and friction which is a brisk rubbing of the skin or may be deep back and forth motion over tight bands of tissue.

The combination of these strokes, gentle music, soft lighting and warm flannel sheets lead to total relaxation and stress relief.
